For Lucy’s birthday this year, I wanted to do something a little bit different and fun. Fortunately her birthday fell around one of the jousting events at Hedingham Castle.
As a child, I used to visit Hedingham Castle with my family and friends all the time. We always used to frequent the jousting days and I always remember them being the best days out. It’s brilliant, when we visited a few weekends ago it was (almost) exactly how I remembered it.
“Lord Hedingham and the infamous Black Knight”
It was the usual battle between Lord Hedingham and the infamous Black Knight. Although the event lacked the authenticism that I remembered – I don’t remember Asian food being a big thing in the medieval times… The castle was all decked out with stalls from the era with characters in costumes and plenty of activities for the kids.
Both Lucy and I had a great day out, we explored the castle and the grounds and throughly enjoyed the show that was put on. It is worth checking out if you’re ever in the area. If you have kids its a must go, they’ll love it!
I hope you enjoyed yet another ‘Visit’ post, there are plenty more on the way! Check out our visit to Melford Hall.
