Thomas & Evans No. 1, fresh, zingy and bloody delicious. For a non-alcoholic beverage, this stuff is the crème de la crème.
“A sophisticated drink launches to create extraordinary ‘zero proof’ drinking experiences”
Let’s be honest, that is not always the thing that you want to hear when someone is handing you a drink, alas Thomas & Evans have been creating these ‘smart sippers with a refreshing, aromatic drink for those moments when you choose not to drink alcohol.’.
I’m not a massive drinker myself, except when it comes to whiskey. So when T&E reached out to me to try one of their new releases, I had to give it a go.
I was told that the Green Fruit Notes and Sophisticated Botanical Flavours drink is best served with a slice of green apple (I hope red works too), and a sprig of rosemary. So, thats what I did.
If you aren’t a heavy drinking, or don’t drink at all, I would say you’ve got to try this. The non-alcoholic beverages section can always be a bit boring: coke, fanta, water etc. But T&E bring something, new, fresh and appetising – hurrah!
It smells amazing; fresh and sweet, and it has the perfect amount of fizz. I’ll be honest, I was surprised at how nice it tasted; elderflower and apple and the key flavours. A really subtle spicy flavour comes from ginger and dried orange peel (proper fancy).
The sprig of rosemary and the sliced apple really does add an extra layer to this drink. The fresh rosemary sets your senses wild, as if you’re sat outside in the beautiful sunshine (not sat indoors on a miserable rainy day). The apple, albeit red instead of green, makes all the difference.
The finish is a favourite, it doesn’t leave the horrible cloying-ness that must soft drinks bring them. I don’t feel like I’m gagging for the next sip, but rather looking forward to it.
“A drink that’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, but which has something to offer more searching palates too.”
